Astronomers have detected a very large 'hole' in space. The gap is almost a billion light years in diameter. Important detail is the lack of any matter - even the obscure "dark matter".
The region appears empty of both normal matter such as starts, galaxies and gas, as well as the mysterious, unseen "dark matter". Lawrence Rudnick, a professor at the University of Minnesota, said "Not only has no one ever found a void this big, but we never even expected to find one this size." Associate professor Liliya Williams added "What we've found is not normal, based on either observational studies or on computer simulations of the large scale evolution of the Universe."

The huge void exists at about 6 to 10 billion light-years from Earth.

Just goes to show, the powers that made the Universe weren't interested in what our 'little' minds could or couldn't comprehend.
One should not be surprised by what one could not imagine!
Considering that what we know wouldn't amount to half a thimble of warm spit.
