Hi Enlightenment,
OK, I am new as well so a small introduction.
My real name is Rob, 46 years young and I am a technical guy (electronics).
One of my hobbies is computering and I am trying to setup a NAS with an old PC.
Searching for a solution (not found it yet) on how to switch off my PC to save energy when not using the NAS was how I came here.
Goodluck with the article, I am looking foreward to it .
Bye, Rob.

105 posts | Hi Rob, welcome to fluffles.net! It's not that popular yet but i'm sure that will come once it's officially launched (with articles available).
In the mean time if you need help with your NAS please open a topic in the storage forum. You might be interested in both powerd/cpufreq to save power on your CPU and in ataidle, which puts disk drives in idle/standby mode if not used after x minutes. Then they will spin-down and consume only 1W instead of 8-10W. With many disks this can save quite a bit of energy, and also means less heat in your casing. Good luck!
